Bolton Castle Estate

I spend most of my time on the fantastic Yorkshire dales Bolton castle estate, acting as gillie, and so now know this part of the river well, and it is Flyfishing only and all salmon must be returned.

The Bolton castle estate is divided into three main beats.

Thoresby beat....

This is the main beat stretching 3/4 mile of left bank fishing, this incorporates  Froddle Dub pool,  which is probably the most

prolific pool of the river Ure. fish stack up here all summer waiting to run bishop dale beck to spawn. There is approx. ten good pools on this beat, there is four wheel drive access to this beat. This beat now has a newly built fishing hut for anglers to use.

Bolton Hall beat.....

The bolton hall beat is excellent Flyfishing water, it is typical of a Yorkshire dales river, again it has lots of excellent pools, these are not fished as hard as the Thoresby beat but it has some excellent fly water, it has easy access by car, and has a new fishing hut for anglers to use, which at we also hold corporate fishing events and casting lessons due to easy access.

Wensley beat.....

Mainly a trout water but salmon have to pass through here to get to the other beats, at the right height of the water it would definatly worth a cast for salmon. this has good vehicle  access.
